*[[Pro 13:20]] KJV* He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
In the above, there are two group of people; the wise and the fool. And they all have tremendous influence. If you walk with the wise, you stand a great chance to be wise, on the other hand, a companion of fools destroys a man. This is the power of association.
No relationship is meaningless. And every relationship has a bearing on your life. Many of the struggles you go through in life is not demonic, it’s just association. In Genesis 13, God couldn’t speak to Abraham for almost two decades because of his association with Lot. The day they separated however, God spoke to Abraham.
*[[Gen 13:14]] KJV* And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
The kind of relationship you court can cut off your spiritual sensitivity. Rahab the harlot’s life and household was spared because of her association with the people of God *(Jos 2:1; 6:17, 25). Joshua’s association with Moses made him wiser *(Deu 34:9). An entire ship nearly sunk because of Jonah onboard *(Jon 1:3-5). Unschooled fishermen were transformed into men of great honour and power because of their association with Jesus *(Act 4:13). An entire ship and people onboard’s lives were saved because Paul was onboard *(Act 27:23-25). Who you walk with can make or mar your life.
Many times, we easily allow people into our lives but find it difficult to show them the door when they bring us war. I’ve seen great Christians walk into total destruction because of just one wrong person that walked into their lives. You need the wisdom to guard your life.
There are over 7 billion people on the face of the earth right now. You don’t lose anything when you walk out one person from your life! And why allow just one person to destroy your life if there are over 7 billion people around you. Take your destiny into your hands and define your relationships. Don’t be influenced; be the influence!
Father I thank you for opening my eyes through your word today. I receive the wisdom and boldness to disengage the wrong association and engaged the right ones. I make a quality decision today to thoroughly exam those who come into my life and hold on to the relevant associations in Jesus’ name. Thank you LORD.
