[Rom 8:6]] KJV For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Many of God’s people have not yet understood the power of the mind. The mind is a creative force. The mind is different from the brain. The brain is an organ but the mind is a force that creates what it constantly incubates.

The Bible says as a man thinks “so is he” *(Pro 23:7). We are the results of our thoughts. In our opening text, Paul explains that “…to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” *(Rom 8:6). Simply put, the mind makes the man. You become what you constantly think about. According to our main text, there’s nothing like a carnal or spiritual person: the mind determines the man. If you fill your mind with carnal things, you become carnal. In the same vein, a mind saturated with spiritual things will produce a spiritual person.

This is why Paul explained; “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit” *(Rom 8:5). Countless of God’s people are not able to walk with God in dimensions they desire to because they fill their mind with the wrong things.

Train yourself not to listen to the wrong songs or watch the wrong things on TV. If we are going to walk with God in greater measures, we cannot allow certain things to enter our mind. You cannot afford to allow just any thought to go through your mind. Control your mind. What’s in your mind determines what man you’ll become. Paul admonished; “Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth” *(Col 3:2) NHEB.

Father I thank you for your word today. I stay my mind on you. I set my affection on heavenly things, and I ask the you consume my mind with things that bring glory to you in Jesus’ name.
